Brent New, MD has had a full-time clinic in Round Rock since February of 2008. Dr. New serves as the Medical Director of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgical Services at Seton Medical Center Williamson and Chairman of  the Department of Surgery at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.

About R. Brent New, MD, FACS, FACC

Brent New, M.D. is a native Texan, originally from Port Arthur, Texas. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. New then spent 6 years at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, where he completed a Residency in Surgery and Fellowship in Cardiovascular Research. He then returned to San Antonio where he also completed a Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Before coming to Austin, Dr. New practiced in Cape Girardeau, Missouri for five years. He joined the practice with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons in 2008.

Dr. New specializes in adult Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery including minimally invasive and endovascular procedures.  His particular interests include mitral valve repair, minimally invasive valve surgery, Maze procedures, transmyocardial laser revascularization, VATS lobectomies, endovascular aortic stent grafts and peripheral endovascular procedures.

Dr. New is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Cardiology. He has also been credentialed by the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Physician’s Network.  Dr. New has numerous professional publications and has presented at multiple national and regional meetings.

Dr. New is the Medical Director of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgical Services at Seton Medical Center Williamson (in Round Rock) and the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.  He is a member of the International Society of Endovascular Specialists, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, Cardiothoracic Surgery Network, Travis County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association.
