Robert A. Tate, M.D.

Aortic AneurysmRobert A. Tate, M.D., is originally from Sweetwater, Texas. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Tate served two years as a General Medical Officer at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri before returning to Brackenridge to complete his General Surgery residency. He completed his Thoracic Surgery residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Tate has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 1970.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Tate specializes in all areas of General Thoracic Surgery.

Since his arrival in Austin, Dr. Tate has been appointed to various leadership positions including Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at Brackenridge Hospital. He was also named "Physician of the Year" by Brackenridge Hospital in 1987. He is an active member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Transplant Society, Texas Surgical Society, and the Travis County Medical Society.
